Energy Management Audits "Whole House Approach" We at A-Plus Air Conditioning & Heating, helped pioneer this concept of addressing all of your building energy needs at one time for more complete comfort. Duct Sealing & Replacement Perfecting the art of sealing the duct system to not allow air to be drawn in from the attic or blow inadvertently into the attic is an area over looked by most contractors. Replacement of faulty older gray flexible duct or bad duct board that is falling apart also enhances air flow results. This improves overall performance, while air balancing with an airflow hood improves uneven air flow. Zoning different areas with thermostats that control dampers and airflow to each area makes buildings more comfortable. Insulation A-Plus encourages the addition of attic insulation to the levels of R-30, insulation around skylights, attic entries, and attic knee walls to keep conditioned air in your building longer, and to keep your heating and cooling system running less. "Green" Thermostats "Green" thermostats are digital (not mercury) thermostats and are available in programmable or non-programmable varieties. Both are more accurate and easier to read. programmable thermostats allow time of day temperature scheduling and have other features. U.V. Lights UV lights have long been in use in hospitals to reduce mold spores in the air, and in some cases reduce odors. They are now available for home and office use and some are classified as Class 2 medical devices. Duct Cleaning It is recommended for only some types of duct. Zoning The science of controlling the temperature in different areas of the building with different temperature needs. This can be done with single or multiple systems. Carbon Monoxide Detector A-Plus offers different carbon monoxide detectors that offer more comfort through peace of mind, knowing an alert will be sounded if the carbon monoxide level is not safe.

Improved Air Infiltration "Filters" While "hardware store" type fiberglass filters are the most common, and offer the least protection, upgrades to 1" or 4" pleated filters, electrostatic filters and electronic air cleaners are offered for those who need more protection from dust, pollens, and other small particles. (Especially those with allergies). Air Balancing Properly sizing both the heating and cooling systems, as well as duct sizing is a science, that we at A-plus, are well trained for. While an existing building may have limitations due to accessibility, most buildings with air flow problems can be improved by adjusting, sizing or balancing the duct work properly. Hot Water Recovery Since hot water heating is the second most costly appliance in an all electric building, we at A-Plus, recommend using hot water recovery systems with heat pumps when ever possible to heat your buildings water for FREE. Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV) As the design of new buildings are made to be more air tight, less fresh air is introduced into the home. ERV's are designed to bring in fresh air while using heat from the "removed" air to condition the fresh air.
